One-month residency in Gyumri AiR

Gyumri, Armenia. Deadline: May 14th

Art Basis, an independent artistic and curatorial platform based in Yerevan, is inviting artists and interdisciplinary practitioners to apply for a fully funded, one-month residency in Gyumri, Armenia. The residency, known as Gyumri AiR, is a community art space project located in the Mush-2 district, which houses people who have been living in temporary constructions since the 1988 earthquake.

Artists are encouraged to consider community-driven projects that can continue beyond the residency period. The focus is on understanding the role of art in such a social and economic environment and how artists can contribute to the community and participate in the city's ongoing transformations.

Selected artists will be provided with accommodation and working space in the form of fully furnished studio rooms. They will also receive mentorship, a daily allowance of €25, and a travel allowance of €350 or €700 based on distance. The residency period is from August 10th to September 10th, 2024 and four artists will be selected.

To apply, artists must send their CV, portfolio, and project proposal/motivation letter to the provided email address. Applications should be in English and in PDF format.

Eligibility is open to artists aged 18 or older who are legally residing in one of the 40 Creative Europe countries, excluding Armenia. Artists can share the same nationality as the residency country, as long as they legally reside in a different country.
