Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship for Overseas Candidates

The Rotary Yoneyama Scholarship is for students planning to enroll in Japanese universities or graduate schools for 2021. Applicants are expected to have Japanese language proficiency, that is, to understand basic Japanese at the JLPT N4 level. Those applying for this scholarship must independently apply and enroll in a Japanese university and include the copy of their application for admission. Those who enroll in graduate schools are requested to submit a recommendation letter from a supervisor or professor from the applicant’s intended graduate school.

Applications are due by the 15th of December, 1:00 P.M. Japan time. This applies to both the April and fall (September/October) 2021 Enrollment. Stipends are 100,000 yen per month for undergraduates, and 140,000 yen per month for both masters and doctoral students. The scholarship also features supplemental funds for airfare travel to Japan. Winners of the scholarship will be reimbursed up to 250,000 yen on arrival in Japan. Applications should include a research plan and a scholarship essay titled “Objective of my studies in Japan.” Winning applicants must also arrive in Japan a month prior to admission or their eligibility will be automatically lost.
