Debora Ipekel is a radio host, selector, music researcher, and the co-founder of the Zel Zele label who lives between Istanbul and London. She runs regular shows at Worldwide FM and NTS Radio and releases adventurous sounds from the past and present of the Turkish music scene and beyond. In the last few years she's been programming shows and special projects in the MENA region for the global music platform Boiler Room, as well as working at London's leading world music record store Sounds of The Universe.
In her exclusive mix for EastEast, Debora has brought together vintage and contemporary Turkish folk, psychedelic rock, and prog from the likes of Senem Diyici & Mavi Yol Quartet and the group 21. Peron, the 90s Ukrainian neofolk of Svitlana Nianio & Oleksandr Yurchenko, and the American avant-garde jazz of Albert Ayler, as well as a selection of recordings from her label.
