HIER & JETZT: Connections (HUJ:C), an artist-organized exchange and residency program, is inviting applications from artists in exile residing in Berlin. Exile is defined as the involuntary loss of one's social context and work environment in their home country for an indefinite period. The program offers a 10-week residency culminating in a solo exhibition at B.L.O. Ateliers in Lichtenberg, Berlin.
This open call targets visual artists who have arrived in Berlin within the last five years. Eligibility extends to artists specializing in installation, painting, sculpture, media art, performance, and photography. Housing is not provided, and the studio is not intended for residential use.
A jury comprising HUJ:C alumni and artistic directors will select three artists or artist groups. Selected applicants will receive a 500 EUR exhibition fee and an opportunity to interact with the HUJ:C artist network during a “Salon.”
To apply, artists are required to submit a proposal detailing their intended exhibition project and work plan. The application must include a letter of intention, artist statement, CV or biography, portfolio or work samples, and a comprehensive project description for the residency period and subsequent exhibition.
There are no application fees, and financial support is provided for the exhibition. For more information about the open-call visit HUJ:C's website.
