As part of the Earthscape Chronicles festival, a film screening of Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil: Portrait of an Architect will be held on October 4th at 6 pm. The screening will be held at the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) at the American University of Sharjah. This documentary explores the work and perspectives of Professor Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil, a renowned Islamic architect. Through intimate interviews and reflections, the film delves into his unique insights on natural materials, the function of buildings, and the importance of the past. These conversations, recorded in his archive in Doha where he has lived for more than ten years, illuminate critical aspects of his education and career and highlight the originality and relevance of his architectural philosophy. The film is produced and directed by Olya Korsun and Furqat Palvan-Zade. At the festival it is presented by Caravane Earth Foundation.
