International Creator Residency Program, operated by Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS), a division of The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, invites highly motivated and distinguished creators from around the globe in the fields of visual art, film, design, and architecture to work, create, and conduct research activities in Tokyo.
The program aims to provide financial support and opportunities for creators to develop and present new works and ideas. The results of the residency will be showcased at the OPEN STUDIO and/or the Result Presentation at TOKAS Hongo.
The residency program consists of two parts—Individual Projects and Theme Projects—and offers creators the opportunity to work in a comfortable environment for three months within the following periods: from the beginning of September to the end of November 2025, and from the beginning of January to the end of March 2026.
Applicants must reside outside of Japan, have 5 years or more of experience in their specialized area of expertise, possess sufficient ability to communicate in English, and be capable of working and living independently. Students, except for Ph.D. candidates, are ineligible.
TOKAS provides a living space (single room), a shared studio, airfare, living expenses (per diem), and a fee for work/project. Learn more about this and other residencies, including curatorial and research residencies, on the TOKAS's website.
