Royal Botanic Gardens Kew

The three-day online conference, hosted by the world's largest botanical garden, Kew Gardens, will explore previously unavailable research material related to the colonial history of the British Empire. The conference will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of March and registration is possible up until 20:00 Moscow time on February 24th.

Sources in the library of archives refer to the period of colonial activity between 1850 and 1928. These printed materials document the attitudes of indigenous peoples towards crops, medicine, nutrition, health, the environment, and provide information on anthropology, ethnography, and agricultural history. According to the organizers, thanks to the archives one can take a fresh look at the history of the empire and critically analyze the colonial policies of the past.

The conference is open to the general public. The complete program is available on the website.
