The educational institution in Sharjah, UAE, is focused on the popularization of knowledge about the continent, the creation of documentation, and archiving for the humanities and social sciences. On the basis of these goals, there are scholarship programs for researchers for master’s, postgraduate, and doctoral studies. Applications are accepted until July 15th.
The fellows will develop new methods of academic research, teaching, and field documentation. The Institute established scholarships for participants are named after famous researchers: Ali A. Mazrui, professor of African studies, for senior researchers, as well as two scholarships for doctoral students–named after Okwui Enwezor, a scientist, curator, and art critic, and Fatima Mernissi, a famous Moroccan researcher.
The scholarship assumes active interaction between junior and senior researchers and provides participants with the opportunity to immerse themselves in scientific and intellectual activities during their stay at the Institute. Training will begin in September 2021. For the application, send your resume, a sample of written work, and a cover letter indicating the proposed research project to applications@theafricainstitute.org.
