(EE) Cinema Presents “Interiors”: An Open Call for Emerging Filmmakers

Application deadline: Dec. 10th, 2023

Opposed to the external communication of facades and walls, the architecture of interiors is preoccupied with the internal life of buildings and those that dwell within. This may mean inner yards, rooms, or intimate affairs between neighbors, the materials and pipes under plaster, memories, gossip, family rituals, and objects hidden from the eye of a passerby.

We are interested in (existing) cinematic stories produced by emerging filmmakers from or working within the core geographies of EastEast: West Asia and North Africa, Eastern Europe, the North and South Caucasus, Central Asia, East and South-East Asia, Asia-Pacific, and global indigenous communities. The works can be of any length under 60 minutes and of any genre, exploring the interiority of architecture from communal, personal, philosophical, material, or any other perspectives.

Selected films will be screened on the EastEast website and the winner will receive a prize of 500 USD.

Please send a link to your film accompanied by a short, informal description of both the film and your practice to film@easteast.world
