The G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation Art Prize is open to Greek and international artists. Three proposals will be selected and awarded equally for their originality, creativity, site-specificity, and connection with the theme of “Care.” This theme is the main focus of the Research Residency Programmes organized by the Foundation and the ongoing Care Ecologies project, which is partly funded by Creative Europe.
The Art Prize seeks site-specific artworks designed to be part of a configured environment. These artworks should tell a story or follow a specific path, and serve as reference points or landmarks within the exhibition space. The selected works will be presented to the public in the summer of 2024, and then permanently displayed in Agios Nikolaos, Crete as part of the G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation's art collection, which includes over 70 artworks by renowned Greek and international artists.
Each of the three selected proposals will receive a prize of 7,000 euros, and an additional 5,000 euros will be provided to each artist for the construction of their work.
