The Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University has announced the Princeton Arts Fellowship, funded in part by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, David E. Kelley Society of Fellows in the Arts, and the Maurice R. Greenberg Scholarship Fund. The application deadline is Tuesday, September 15, 2020, 5:00 p.m. (EDT). The fellowship will be given to artists who demonstrate "extraordinary promise in any area of artistic practice and teaching". The call is open to a wide degree of artists including: early career composers, conductors, musicians, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors, and performance artists. The call mentions this list is in fact not exhaustive and the position is open to anyone who would benefit from a two year position that involves teaching and working in an "artistically vibrant university community".
The fellowship involves two consecutive academic years (September 1-July 1) during which formal teaching is expected. Specifically, one course should be taught each semester that is subject to approval by the Dean of the Faculty. Fellows may also suggest alternatives for creative activities (plays, dances, performances) that can be done with the students. An $84,000 a year stipend is provided.
Applicants must submit a resume or CV, a personal statement of 500 words about how they would use the fellowship at this moment in their career, and contact information for three references. In addition, work samples should be submitted online (i.e., writing samples, images of work, video links to performances, audio recordings, etc.).
