Call for Submissions: Mizna 25.1

Deadline: December 15th

Mizna is now accepting submissions for their Summer 2024 Issue, Mizna 25.1, as they approach their twenty-fifth anniversary. This particular issue will not have a specific theme, but the editorial team aims to center and uplift our community during a time of anger and grief. They especially want to amplify the voices of those who are currently experiencing various forms of colonialism, imperialism, genocide, and ecological catastrophe, such as Palestinians, Armenians, Afghans, Sudanese, Moroccans, and Libyans. Mizna recognizes the challenges faced by individuals who have been silenced and welcomes their contributions, particularly in a climate where solidarity with Palestine has been met with censorship, doxxing, award and event cancellations, and professional repercussions.

Mizna has a history of publishing innovative literature and visual art, which includes visual poetry and hybrid works. They are currently accepting submissions of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, comics, and more. While it is not mandatory to identify as SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) or Arab, submissions should align with Mizna's aesthetic and contribute to ongoing conversations. Simultaneous submissions are allowed and selected contributors will receive a $200 honorarium, a 1-year subscription to Mizna, and 5 copies of the issue. For more information about the submission guidelines and to apply, please visit Mizna's website.

Mizna is a critical platform for contemporary literature, film, art, and cultural production centering the work of Arab and Southwest Asian and North African artists.
