Manazir Hosts Open Call on Street Art in the MENA region

Research applications are accepted until December 15th

Banksy. Graffiti paintings on the Israeli West Bank barrier near Qalandia. July, 2005

Manazir, a magazine about the arts, architecture, and cultural heritage of the Middle East and North Africa, invites you to participate in an open call on the theme of “Reclaiming Art in Urban Public Space in the MENA Region.” Applications are accepted until December 15th.

The new issue will focus on visual, performative and street art (tags, graffiti, sculptures, installations) and the ways in which they diversify the forms of expression in public space and transform cities, gradually turning them into open-air galleries. The authors of the issue are invited to reflect on the spatial, social, and political changes that urban spaces go through due to various artistic practices.

To apply, send your project description and CV in English or French to Marie Bonte (marie.bonte02@univ-paris8.fr) or Marion Slitine (marion.slitine@ehess.fr).
