Sound Art Lab invites artists residing outside of Denmark to apply for a one-month residency in vibrant work facilities located in close vicinity to the coastal landscapes of Limfjorden. This residency aims to support artists working in sound-related practices and offers an outstanding environment for exploration, experimentation, focus, and collaboration.
Artists are granted full freedom to utilize their residency as they see fit, with no obligation for a finished product. However, documentation of their stay (in sound, image, video, and/or text) for publication through Sound Art Lab's channels is expected. Public presentations in forms such as performances, artist talks, or exhibitions are also possible upon agreement.
The residency includes a grant of €2000, up to €800 reimbursement for travel costs, and free accommodation (excluding food). Recipients are also expected to facilitate a workshop for individuals aged 16-25 during their stay.
Application Requirements:
— Project description (max. 1 page) including motivation and available dates for the residency
— Brief workshop description (max. 0,5 pages)
— Artist bio (max. 1 page)
— CV (max. 1 page)
— Portfolio (max. 10 pages)
— Samples of sound work (if relevant), as links or MP3 files
All visual and textual materials should be compiled into a single PDF, in either Danish or English, with a maximum file size of 20MB, and emailed to residency@soundartlab.org with the subject line "SAL Residency 2024."
A jury, comprising Louise Tandrup Esbensen, co-director of Country Town, and Jacob Eriksen, director of Sound Art Lab, will review all applications. The selection will be based on the quality and relevance of the artists' work, their proposed project, and their potential to benefit from a Sound Art Lab residency. Up to four artists will be selected.
