Open Call for Art Like Salt Exhibition and Residency

Taepyung Salt Farm X ROWILAB seeks artists to submit entries for the juried exhibition, Art Like Salt.

The Winner(s) of the Year (an individual or group) will have the opportunity to participate in a residency program for 12 weeks between September and November 2024, or between March and May 2025, in Jeungdo, Shinan, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.

Jeungdo, Asia's first Slow City, has been practicing the preservation of an ecosystem made up of various halophytes. Recognized for its natural value, it has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a Ramsar International Wetland. It was also selected by CNN as one of the top 10 most beautiful places in South Korea. The artworks of the winner(s) will be exhibited at the Salt Museum near the residence.

The eligible art formats are photography, video, installation, sculpture, or sound and the theme is Human, All Too Human. The exhibition raises questions about human nature, our ability to control our desires, and our responsibility in defining life and its limits.

The winner(s) will be rewarded 5,000,000 KRW before tax (approximately $4,170) and 1,200,000 KRW (approximately $1,000) for supplies costs. Travel expenses up to 1,200,000 KRW (approximately $1,000) for the winner(s) from Europe and America, and up to 800,000 KRW (approximately $670) for the winner(s) from Asia will be provided.
