The Camargo Foundation has announced the open call for applications for the Camargo Fellowship for the 2025-2026 residency periods. Founded by American artist and philanthropist Jerome Hill, the Camargo Foundation fosters creativity, research, and experimentation through its international residency program for artists, scholars, and thinkers. Located in Cassis, France, the Foundation offers residents time and space in a supportive environment to think, create, and connect. The Fellowship is designed to support advanced research, experimentation, and interdisciplinary approaches in the Arts and Humanities.
Eligible applicants may include:
— Scholars: Individuals with a focus on French and Francophone cultures, or cross-cultural studies engaging the Mediterranean region. Applicants should hold a PhD, be PhD candidates, or have a record of post-doctoral scholarship.
— Thinkers: Accomplished professionals and practitioners in cultural and creative fields engaged in critical thought.
— Artists: Individuals with a mature artistic voice and a professional practice of at least five years. Applicants should be the primary creators of new work or projects.
— Collaborative Projects: Teams of up to three individuals working on interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
— Translators: Professional translators, academic translators, and literary translators with theoretical or research-oriented projects.
Applicants must submit a proposal for work they wish to accomplish during their residency. The proposal should include specific projects to develop or complete, or research into a particular topic.
Residency Periods: Fall 2025 (September 10th to November 19th, 2025) and Spring 2026 (February 24th to May 5th, 2026).
Stipend: EUR 350 per week, plus funding for basic transportation to and from Cassis.
Facilities: The Foundation’s campus includes furnished apartments, a reference library, a music/conference room, an open-air theater, an artist’s studio, and a composer’s studio.
Applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, by 5:59pm EST (New York City) / 23:59 CET (Paris). Only one application per eligible applicant is allowed.
