A thought-provoking panel discussion featuring leading Islamic architect Abdel Wahed El-Wakil is scheduled for April 19th, from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Heenat Salma Farm film studio. Abdel Wahed El Wakil will share his insights on how architecture influences our identity. The event will begin with a screening of the documentary Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil: Portrait of an Architect, which examines the role of craftsmanship in architecture, the symbolic importance of religious buildings, and the crisis of modernism.
The film, produced and directed by EastEast editors Olya Korsun and Furqat Palvan-Zade and commissioned by Caravane Earth Foundation, explores El Wakil's unique perspectives on natural materials, the function of buildings, and the significance of history. Featuring intimate interviews and personal reflections, the documentary uncovers the stories embedded in structures and investigates how design impacts our sense of self.
