Ma’na Lab: Reimagining the Central Asia's Future

Almaty, Kazakhstan. Deadline: May 22nd

Impact Hub Almaty is inviting artists, writers, bloggers, journalists, creators, researchers, and social activists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to participate in Ma'na Lab—a multidisciplinary laboratory that encourages collective rethinking of Central Asia's future.

The educational journey of Ma'na Lab includes a three-day online intensive. Its participants will analyze historical and cultural contexts of various social conflicts and discuss social change with regional social activists, thinkers, and practitioners.

The residency program in Almaty comprises meetings with invited experts, local community interactions, and various group work activities. At the end of the residency, participants will select a research topic to work on for three months. The residency lasts for seven full days, from July 21st through July 27th, inclusive. Participants should plan to arrive on the evening of July 20th and depart on the morning of July 28th.

The program concludes with a final event in December 2024, where participants will present their work results to a broader audience. The project runs from June 13th to December 5th. The organizers cover all participation-related expenses. The project is designed for 24 participants, which will be selected on a competitive basis.

To participate, apply for the open call by May 22nd, 2024. The competition is open to individuals aged 18 and above from five Central Asian countries mentioned above. Applicants must be proficient in both English and Russian.
