Deadline: June 10th

Uwe Pfeifer (1971) Passageway in Halle-Neustadt

The Institute of European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS), based in Warsaw, is seeking to recruit experts to work with the curatorial team on the exhibition “Arts and Power in the 20th Century.” ENRS is a public cultural institution engaged in international cooperation in researching, documenting, and disseminating knowledge about 20th-century European history. The upcoming exhibition examines the multifaceted relationship between arts/artists and political power in East-Central Europe in the 20th century.

The exhibition aims to highlight the social significance and social responsibility of arts by presenting different aspects of the relationship between arts and power in the 20th century. It explores themes such as the role of arts in the construction of social utopias, socially engaged art, the role of arts in documenting genocide and war crimes, and the biographies of artists working under totalitarian/authoritarian governments.

The ENRS is currently looking for experts to assist with researching materials for the exhibition scenario, elaborating historical contexts for specific sub-themes, and co-writing the scenario of the exhibition. Applicants should have a broad knowledge of issues related to the intersection of art and political power in East-Central Europe in the 20th century. They should also have a doctorate or be a PhD candidate, possess English language skills of at least C1 level, and have the ability to research in libraries and archives, including online databases.

Art historians are particularly welcome. The work location is remote, with flexible working hours for approximately 16–20 hours per week. The ENRS offers a contract of mandate, cooperation with a well-established international institution, work on an interesting project, and a friendly atmosphere.
