Call for Artists: Lost&Found Bureau Exhibition

Deadline: August 22nd

Lost&Found Bureau is an installation that collects memories of homes forcibly left, whether due to forced displacement or semi-voluntary decisions made because of wars, state terror, and natural disasters.

Over 2023–2024, Lost&Found Bureau collected an archive of anonymous memories about forcibly left homes. These memories span several countries and decades. The project seeks to digitally represent objects described in the archive. Artists are invited to reimagine these objects as fantastical representations, not literal visualizations. Eligible artists must be based in the South Caucasus region or have a meaningful connection to it. Contributions from artists in exile or those with a history of displacement are especially welcome.

Artists can submit digital 2D (still or video) or 3D representations of objects. The selected artists will receive an honorarium of 150 EUR, paid upon completion of the artwork. There are no specific age, gender, or career stage criteria for eligibility. Submissions must be in English. Chosen artists will be notified by August 31st, 2024.

The exhibition of the project will take place at the Library for Architecture in Yerevan, Armenia, from September 13th through 29th. This initiative is part of the Homeing research art project, which critically reflects on the concept of Home in times of mobility, displacement, and radical uncertainty. Homeing, launched in 2023 in Yerevan, operates in partnership with the Journalists for Urban Development NGO and is financially supported by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation under the Crisis Response: Second Stage programme.
