The Tenth Edition of the International Awards for Art Criticism (IAAC 10) 2024 is organized to support independent critical coverage of contemporary art. Open to candidates worldwide, the awards invite submissions in Chinese or English, focusing on any contemporary art exhibition held globally or online between September 1st, 2023, and August 31st, 2024.
The IAAC aims to stimulate good writing, critical thinking, dialogue, and research beyond the immediate pressures of the market, media, and private patronage. It offers significant opportunities for writers, including a First Prize of 10,000 Euros (pre-tax) or the equivalent in RMB, and three Second Prizes of 3,500 Euros (pre-tax) or the equivalent in RMB. Winners can choose to be paid in Euro or RMB at the official exchange rate on the payment date.
Eligible candidates must write a review of up to 1,500 English words or 2,500 Chinese characters. Submissions must be sent electronically as a single optimized PDF file no greater than 4MB, accompanied by up to three images of the relevant exhibition, if necessary. The judging process ensures strict anonymity to maintain objectivity, with a combined panel of Chinese and English-speaking judges.
There is no entry fee, and the awards are open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The deadline for application is September 15th, 2024. The final adjudication will take place in December in Shanghai, with results announced immediately afterward.
