WMA Commission Open Call: Lens-Based Artists to Explore "Hope"

WMA Commission seeks proposals from artists and photographers for new or extended lens-based projects exploring the theme of “Hope.” Diverse ideas and visual expressions are encouraged, with lens-based media as the core component. Projects may incorporate other media such as performance or writing.

Two commissions will be awarded, each receiving a HKD250,000 grant for research, development, and production. Projects must be completed within a year, with mentorship from WMA and its network. The final works will be exhibited at WMA Space in Hong Kong. Awardees will donate an edition of their work to the WYNG Foundation upon completion.

Eligibility: Open to all artists and practitioners over 18, regardless of nationality or location

Required: Proposal, CV, and portfolio (English or Chinese)

Selection Criteria:
Alignment with WMA's mission to raise social awareness about Hong Kong
— Exploration of hope in contemporary contexts
— Project feasibility and potential impact

Timeline:

— Application closes: November 1st, 2024
— Interviews: December 2024
— Winners announced: January 2025
— Project completion: By December 2026
