Curiosibot Lab: Music Residency Program 2024

Deadline: September 18th

Curiosibot Lab, located in the artistic neighborhood of Russafa, Valencia (Spain), is calling for applications for the one-month CREAte Music Residency, from November 4th, 2024. This residency is designed for Europe-based musicians, composers, and sound artists who are eager to explore new frontiers in music production and performance by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This one-month residency will particularly welcome musicians interested in learning about AI music tools using platforms like Google Colab and other innovative software. Participants will have the opportunity to create unique samples and sounds to integrate into their music. Artists will receive monitoring from the director and technical training in utilizing AI tools. Additionally, artists will learn about training their work using the plugin Combobulator, with the guidance of external collaborator Ben Cantil of Datamind Audio, who will conduct a workshop on utilizing this powerful tool and how to create sounds for this plugin trained on the artist’s sounds. Familiarity with python or Google Colab is helpful but not a requirement.

The residency welcomes artists with no previous knowledge of AI and an interest in sound design. The residency will not be focusing on tools such as Udio (or full track generation tools), rather on tools that can create samples and create new sounds trained on the artist’s own work.

The residency provides accommodation, workspace, mentoring, a travel allowance (350–700 EUR), a daily allowance (25 EUR/day) and top-ups (for sustainable travel, travel from Overseas Countries and Territories or Outermost Regions, visa fees, family support and disability support).
