Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen
#HeritageAlive, an online journal founded at a UNESCO convention in 2003, is accepting papers regarding the making, playing, and preservation of musical instruments. The purpose of the publication is to reflect on NGOs’ and experts’ experiences from the field and the ways in which these stories of the challenges, methodology, and interactions can work towards the proper safeguarding of cultural heritage. Articles should place an emphasis on the instrument’s social and cultural function for a group or a community.
According to the call, “the main purpose of #HeritageAlive is to share experiences from the field”, which means that articles should preferably be made by, or in cooperation with the NGOs and the practitioners concerned. The deadline for submitting articles is October 15th, 2020. The articles should be 1,500 to 2,000 words, in English or French, and include a 400 word summary.
