The Sharjah Art Foundation has announced an open call for the Focal Point publishing grant. The Foundation's program aims to promote research and publications that provide a deeper understanding of the history of Arab art and its relationship to the global context. Applications can be submitted until October 10th.
The grant is designed for projects dedicated to the theme of global modernism with a focus on artistic, theoretical, or practical research done in the post-war period in West Asia, Africa, and South Asia. Two types of works are accepted for the competition: long-form essays about research and new editions of critical texts from the 1940s—1960s with modern commentaries or interpretations. The grant provides financial support up to $30,000, and the publication of research on the Sharjah Art Foundation platform.
