Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), one of Germany's largest universities, is inviting applications for a three-year funded, part-time (50%) position for an academic staff member (doctoral candidate). The candidate will work on a doctoral dissertation associated with the Chair of Multilingual and Transnational Post-Soviet Studies at the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies (Germersheim campus).
The opportunity seeks a candidate interested in doctoral research in fields such as linguistic diversity, memory studies, visual studies, cultural sociology, or cultural history, with a focus on the Soviet Union and/or its predecessor or successor states.
Tasks include independent research, presenting at conferences, organizational activities, and teaching. The candidate must have an academic degree qualifying for a doctoral program, be prepared to contribute to the faculty's research and teaching program, and have excellent English knowledge and knowledge of a post-Soviet region language other than Russian.
