Cirkus Kolektiv: Outdoor Art Research Lab 2025

Deadline: September 25th

Cirkus Kolektiv invites applications from artists and collectives specializing in contemporary circus and outdoor arts for their Outdoor Art Research Lab residency program in Split, Croatia (March–April 2025), supported by Culture Moves Europe.

This residency aims to nurture outdoor exploration and creation within contemporary circus and outdoor arts. By emphasizing public spaces and their unique contexts, the program encourages an innovative approach to artistic expression—one that's currently underrepresented in Croatia. The Outdoor Art Research Lab has the potential to spark a dynamic dialogue among artists, local communities, and the urban landscape, reimagining Split's public spaces as hubs of connection and creativity.

The residency primarily focuses on exploration and experimentation, with no requirement to create or premiere a final product. Instead, it offers artists a space to explore new ideas and develop outdoor creations that respond directly to and are shaped by the performance space.

Cirkus Kolektiv will provide travel expenses, accommodation, and a daily per diem of 25 EUR during the residency. This support extends to accommodation, and a fee for the Split Calling 2025 festival presentation (October 2025). Additionally, each artist will receive 500 EUR for production costs. The organizers will also submit selected artists/projects to available funding calls to secure additional production support.
